Doesn't help much elsewhere, but it's amazing for that specific fight. My first only failed because I was laughing too hard at the chaos on my screen. I had no idea these interactions existed (my plan was to Dream Nail as often as I could), and I only needed two attempts with this strategy. There are two different interactions here: Weaversong+Grubsong gives you Soul whenever a spider hits ANY enemy, including those that don't ordinarily give you soul, and DC+GW.well, try for yourself. I struggled a lot with Failed Champion during my first several attempts, so I tried a pet build: Weaversong, Grubsong, Defender's Crest, Glowing Womb, Grimmchild. Wayward Compass was nearly useless on my second and third playthroughs, but invaluable in my first. Gathering Swarm + Dash Master are a must for me during exploration. Quick Focus + Deep Focus make Absolute Radiance much more manageable, despite the steep cost, and the last four slots don't really matter. I replace Quickslash with Fragile Heart + Thorns of Agony at the following bench, but it doesn't really matter much it's just that none of the enemies following it, except for Failed Champion, let Quickslash get much mileage. Godmaster spoilers: Fragile Strength, Quickslash, Shaman Stone, Grimmchild has been my fastest combo through White Defender in Pantheon of Hallownest. r/demonssouls /r/darksouls /r/darksouls2 /r/darksouls3 /r/bloodborne /r/saltandsanctuary /r/castlevania /r/metroid
